Liberalization, Modernization, and Urbanization of the Indian Ocean. Air Marshal (R) Farooq Habib HI(M) stated fear, interests, and honour are the policy cardinals of Indian Maritime Interests in IOR, which is reflected in the expansion of the Indian Navy. Dr. Rizwana Abbasi argued that the Asian century is a reality. Russian influence is increasing in Eastern Europe, whereas China, the US, and India are dominating forces in the Indian Ocean. President IRS Ambassador Nadeem Riaz while concluding the session stated that India always considers the Indian Ocean as “India’s Ocean” and claims herself as a Net Security Provider backed by the US, which is contrary to the reality of the IOR maritime environment and against the overall strategic interests of the region. India’s intention to rule the Indian Ocean and its Hindutva thinking are major challenges not only for Pakistan but all littoral states of IOR.

The seminar was well attended by academia, professionals, students of universities, researchers of think tanks, and policy makers.
