Since the adoption of the landmark United Nations Biodiversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction Treaty, also known as the High Seas Treaty or the BBNJ treaty, NIMA undertook the study aimed to devise a comprehensive understanding of the treaty with regards to its aspects of conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity and economic justice and equity and its implications on Pakistan’s maritime governance and policies.
