Participants of 8th Maritime Security Workshop NIMA

02 December ,2025: Participants of 8th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW), led by Rear Admiral Sohail Ahmed Azmie, SI(M), President MCE, PNWC, visited National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) for an insightful session on the role of maritime affairs in Pakistan’s economy, both nationally and globally. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Rear Admiral Javaid Iqbal, HI(M), President NIMA, and was briefed on NIMA’s functioning as premier maritime thinktank of Pakistan.

Discussions highlighted maritime economy’s contribution to global GDP, the growing importance of maritime tourism, and the pivotal role of ports and shipping in strengthening national economies. Key areas also included shipbuilding and ship recycling, challenges and opportunities in transitioning from a traditional maritime economy to a blue economy, and emerging business prospects for Pakistan. Additionally, maritime investment opportunities were discussed, with emphasis on sustainable financing, infrastructure development, exploration of seabed resources, and the adoption of marine renewable energy solutions to support long-term growth in the maritime domain.
