President NIMA called on Hon Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs

27 Aug 25Islamabad 27 Aug 25, Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed HI(M), Retd, President National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA), called on Mr. Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Hon Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, at his office. The meeting was focused on upcoming events, i.e., PIMEC-25. The discussion also highlighted the following significant developments; Establishment of the Pakistan Maritime Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Fast-track revision of national maritime policies, Securing 25,000 metric ton tuna fishing quota from the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC), Announcement of Mercantile Marine Department (MMD) provincial offices to facilitate of seafarers and Allocation of PKR 12 billion for the ship recycling industry in line with the Hong Kong Convention (HKC) implementation framework.

The Hon Minister lauded NIMA’s contributions in maritime research & policy formulation. He also underlined the importance of introducing innovative projects. He reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to extending full support for sustainable growth of the maritime sector.
