President of NIMA participated in the China-South Asia Maritime Forum-25 in Chengdu
25-29 Jun 25 , Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed HI(M), Retd., President of NIMA, participated in the China-South Asia Maritime Forum-25 in Chengdu, China, hosted by Sichuan University’s Institute of South Asian Studies. He shared insights on “The Hybrid Nature of the Maritime Environment,” focusing on the intersection of traditional and non-traditional threats. NIMA Research Associate Ms. Iram Zahid also presented on “Women Empowerment in Coastal Communities of Pakistan through Sustainable Livelihoods.” The forum, attended by regional experts, yielded consensus on key maritime issues, emphasizing that oceans are a shared global heritage. Key takeaways included the need to strengthen regional mechanisms and establish a collaborative maritime security framework to address non-traditional threats.
