World Ocean's Day 2024

National Institute of Maritime Affairs- NIMA in collaboration with Bahria School of Maritime & Applied Sciences conducted a seminar on the theme “Awaken New Depths”  An enlightening and inspiring seminar to explore the vast potential and critical importance of our oceans was held to engage with leading experts, participate in thought-provoking discussions, and contribute to a future where our oceans thrive.

World Environment Day

June 4 ,2024

On June 4th, 2024 National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA), in collaboration with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) & Bahria University (BU), hosted a seminar to commemorate World Environment Day. The theme as selected was “Coastal Erosion Management, Mangroves Preservation & Ecosystem Rehabilitation” under the overall United Nation’s theme of “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”.The event brought together eminent government officials, environmental experts, activists, and students to address pressing environmental issues facing Pakistan’s coastal communities. A special message by the Chief of The Naval Staff was read. 

The esteemed guests included Norwegian Ambassador HE Per Albert Ilsaas, Srilankan Deputy Head of Mission Mr. A.Christy Ruban, Ms.Farzana Altaf Shah, DG Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency, Amb. Nafees Zakarya, Executive Director COMSATS, Mr. Gauhar Zahid Malik, President & Executive Editor at Pakistan Observer and Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, WWF-Pakistan’s representative.President NIMA, Vice Admiral (Retd) Ahmed Saeed HI (M), welcomed the participants and stressed on the need for a broader plan to focus on the Sustainable Development Goals.The Chief Guest, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, emphasized on significance of environment day and its relevance to Pakistan. She highlighted initiatives of Government of Pakistan for ecosystem restoration etc. At the end the winning students received their trophies
